News from the North

After 10 years working and living in New York City, Alison bought the first house upstate she saw on zillow where she moved full time except for the months she snowbirds in Florida. With a low tolerance for cold temperatures and complicated manual labor, she began writing an online newsletter chronicling how to figure it all out. These are the the books of those letters.

40-ish pages of tales of the North each. In Volume 1 she learns to shovel snow, process a chicken, and lives through two Blackouts. In Volume 2 her dog dies, she flies South for the Winter and excavates flying squirrels from her bedroom. In Volume 3 she begins home renovations, takes Jazzercise and a pandemic hits.

If you would like a copy of these, just ask!

Alison’s writing style is funny and quirky and gives a different perspective on a girl from the South moving to the North on her own and adapting to the changing seasons and local wild life including people, all while running her own business. I look forward to the monthly newsletter sitting down with a glass of wine and my cat on my lap and a smile on my face after reading about her latest adventure. The little snippets she writes are just enough to keep you wanting more. To the North and beyond…
